You found a story! The Shadow Man by The Reluctant Monkey. Scary Tale. Rated PG. WC: 4732 There's an evil presence lurking in the Wheelers' game preserve, one that appears to unsuspecting souls on All Hallows' Eve. Run. You cannot let it catch you. Whatever you do, don't get caught. |
With a trembling hand, you push open the structure's scarred wooden door and step inside. Slowly, you pan your light around the room, wondering what you might discover. It takes a moment, but you realize you're standing in an old, one-room schoolhouse, the kind you always associated with stories like those from Little House on the Prairie.
Something moves in the shadows and you let out a frightened gasp. The sound of scurrying paws and high-pitched squeaking lets you know you've disturbed some type of rodent. Grimacing, you take a few more hesitant steps forward, your feet leaving clear prints in the heavy coating of dirt that covers the floor. It's obvious the schoolhouse was abandoned many decades ago. You have no doubt it was here long before the night your grandfather robbed Sleeyside First National Bank and disappeared into the forest outside town. Could the stolen money be hidden somewhere in this ramshackle building?

This definitely seems like a promising spot. You want to explore even further.
Or...
You've seen enough. You have no desire to poke around any rats' nests. If the money really is here, the rodents can have it! You quickly exit the building and choose a narrow, overgrown path that angles off to the left.
